Higher Grounds’ contract had ended with University of New Mexico and Satellite Coffee was offered the new contract. The small budget to remodel this location into the style of other existing Satellites didn’t allow for interior design or architectural services. So, Satellite called on me (their in-house Senior Designer) to tackle the task. Never doing a project like this, I was excited by the challenge and opportunity to try something new. First, I discussed everything this location needed to match the style of the rest of the Satellites with the owner. From the discussion I made new sketches reflecting Satellite’s color palette, new countertops/fronts materials, new lighting and signage. From that point I project-managed the construction details of the counters, paint, lighting and signage construction/installation including installing the menu board frames, menu boards and Satellite logo signs myself.
